CAC Saskatchewan Hosts Identity Theft Forum
(February 16, 2004) Identity theft - where a thief steals and uses another person’s personal information for financial gain - is one of the fastest growing consumer crimes in Canada. The results to a victim’s money, credit rating and sense of personal security can be devastating.
On February 26, 2004, the Saskatchewan chapter of the Consumers' Association of Canada will present a public forum entitled "Identity Theft: How Safe is Your Identity?"
The forum will include a panel presentation by experts in the area of identity theft, followed by a question and answer session. Featured speakers are John Lawford of the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (and author of the recent study, "Identity Theft: The Need for Better Consumer Protection"), and Sergeant Gord Drayton of the RCMP Commercial Crime Section. The forum will be moderated by Mr. Allen Blakeney, College of Law.
