Consumers' Association Appoints Energy Committee Chair
(August 8, 2004) The Consumers’ Association of Canada has appointed St. John’s lawyer, Dennis M. Browne, Q.C. as Chair of its National Energy Task Force. Dennis Browne has been a Consumer Advocate appearing on behalf of consumers before the Public Utilities Board in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador since 1996.

According to CAC President, Bruce Cran,

“We are very pleased that Dennis Browne QC has accepted this appointment. Over the years, Dennis has worked effectively for consumers in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador on electricity issues. We now want him to take this experience nationally”.

As Chair of the Consumers’ Association of Canada’s National Energy Task Force, Dennis will co-ordinate interventions on behalf of consumers before various energy boards across the country.

Bruce Cran added:

“The Consumers’ Association of Canada is committed to ensuring that consumers are well represented in every jurisdiction of the country, before boards which set energy pricing.

The Consumers’ Association of Canada will pursue involvement in all aspects of energy pricing and inform consumers on policies put forward by various governments and how these policies will affect consumers.”
